MISSION: To be a bridge between high school and college for art students who are talented and inspired to study art, but may have limited access to instruction, resources and materials
Fine Art Fridays@ is an exemplary afterschool art program on Fridays designed for high school students looking for further instruction in 2D art.
Talent must be nurtured, and often financial, institutional, and geographical realities make it impossible for many young artists to study art, let alone attend college. This program will place students in a learning environment devoted to art. The students will see both attending college and the pursuit of art as viable options for their future.
Highlights of the program include: free, high quality art supplies and instruction, portfolio development, studio practice, visits from guest artists, professors, and college outreach representatives, and access to figure models, facilities hosted by a non-profit arts organization, close to public transit, optional college credit through AP Board and/or a community college host, and a travel abroad program.
